Application
This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to monitor daily working of a pull system, identify and take action on problems, and recommend improvements.
This unit applies to senior operators, team leaders or others who have been given responsibility to monitor operations of a process or work area and implement corrective action.
The unit applies to any organisation that is implementing competitive systems and practices.
No licensing or certification requirements exist at the time of publication. Relevant legislation, industry standards and codes of practice within Australia must be applied.

Assessment Requirements
Performance Evidence
There must be evidence the candidate has completed the tasks outlined in the elements and performance criteria of this unit, and demonstrated the ability to:
• identify at least 2 discrepancies and take corrective action
• identify and take action on at least one improvement to the pull system.
Knowledge Evidence
There must be evidence the candidate has knowledge of:
• the demand pull system used in process or work area
• pacemaker process
• types of inventories used in process or work area
• operation and capabilities of equipment and resources used in process or work area
• abilities and skills of personnel in process or work area
• ‘ultimate customer’ order process and relationship to demand pull for process or work area
• stakeholders relevant to process or work area
• possible actions available to address discrepancies.
Assessment Conditions
Skills must have been demonstrated in the workplace or in a simulated environment that reflects workplace conditions and contingencies. The following conditions must be met for this unit:
• use of suitable facilities, equipment and resources
• modelling of industry operating conditions, including:
• operational pull system.
Assessors must satisfy the NVR/AQTF mandatory competency requirements for assessors.
