This unit applies to technical experts, team leaders, managers or others who have been given the authority to make changes to systems and processes in order to design, or re-design. and establish a complete JIT system.
This unit applies to any organisation that is implementing competitive systems and practices.
No licensing or certification requirements exist at the time of publication. Relevant legislation, industry standards and codes of practice within Australia must be applied.

- 4.3 Ensure new systems and/or practices are reflected in future training and assessment
- 4.4 Establish mechanisms for review and improvement of JIT
Assessment Requirements
Performance Evidence
There must be evidence the candidate has completed the tasks outlined in the elements and performance criteria of this unit, and demonstrated the ability to:
• develop at least one complete JIT system and supervise its implementation.
Knowledge Evidence
There must be evidence the candidate has knowledge of:
• needs of internal and external value chain members
• principles of JIT
• methods to achieve JIT
• reasons for delays, storages and/or inventories in the value stream and methods of reducing or eliminating them
• methods of identifying and filling skill gaps
• key business objectives associated with implementing JIT
• principles of the operational processes relevant to the JIT implementation
• key measures and data relevant to the process and their application to JIT.
Assessment Conditions
Skills must have been demonstrated in the workplace or in a simulated environment that reflects workplace conditions and contingencies. The following conditions must be met for this unit:
• use of suitable facilities, equipment and resources
• modelling of industry operating conditions, including:
• functioning competitive systems and practices environment.
Assessors must satisfy the NVR/AQTF mandatory competency requirements for assessors.
Foundation Skills
- {'skill': 'Foundation Skills', 'description': 'This section describes those language, literacy, numeracy and employment skills that are essential to performance but not explicit in the performance criteria.\n• Reading skills to interpret workplace documentation\n• Writing skills to document and/or review procedures\n• Oral communication skills to consult with and inform a range of stakeholders across the value chain on JIT\n• Numeracy skills to select and calculate key measures for JIT.\nOther foundation skills essential to performance are explicit in the performance criteria of this unit.'}
