Application
This unit covers the skills and knowledge required to plan and facilitate structured Agile processes to deliver customer value.
This unit applies to senior operators, team leaders, managers or others who have been given the authority to gain input from customers, project partners and others to define the project direction and goals, maintain focus on customer specifications, plan project increments and facilitate project team to deliver increments.
This unit applies to any organisation that is implementing structured Agile processes.
Agile is typically applied in contexts where the solution or outcome is not known, or in constantly changing environments, and where the customer can reasonably use and critique the ‘product in progress’.
No licensing or certification requirements exist at the time of publication. Relevant legislation, industry standards and codes of practice within Australia must be applied.
What You'll Learn

- 1.1 Liaise with customer and project partners or stakeholders to determine project direction, objectives and goals relevant to customer specifications
- 1.3 Determine planning, prioritisation and decision making frameworks for project

- 2.1 Select team members including cross-functional members as relevant to project goals
- 2.3 Guide selection and set up of visual indicators and milestones to support identification and tracking of project work and processes
- 2.4 Assist team to plan and determine criteria for iterations

- 3.1 Monitor testing and customer feedback to identify need for changes to project direction and/or goals
- 3.3 Monitor and amend work priorities, with input from customer and project partners or stakeholders
- 3.4 Define and allocate work required to be done according to project goals and priorities
- 3.5 Regularly update team on changes to project direction, objectives, goals and work priorities

- 4.1 Communicate with managers and/or leaders to promote understanding of and commitment to Agile values across organisation
- 4.3 Ensure resources and procedures are in place to support incremental and iterative work processes
- 4.4 Recognise skill and/or other development needs for project partners and team members to work within Agile and provide coaching and mentoring or initiate support
Assessment Requirements
Performance Evidence
There must be evidence the candidate has completed the tasks outlined in the elements and performance criteria of this unit, and demonstrated the ability to:
• plan and facilitate the implementation of at least one Agile project including delivery of at least 2 increments.
Knowledge Evidence
There must be evidence the candidate has knowledge of:
• Agile values and principles as they apply to project planning and implementation
• application of scrum, sprint, backlog, visual management devices and pull within planning and implementation of Agile projects
• selection and calculation of metrics for Agile projects
• principles of continuous improvement
• techniques to facilitate communication and agreement across levels and areas of the organisation
• skill and/or other development typically needed to support Agile project planning and implementation and how to address them.
Assessment Conditions
Skills must have been demonstrated in the workplace or in a simulated environment that reflects workplace conditions and contingencies. The following conditions must be met for this unit:
• use of suitable facilities, equipment and resources
• modelling of industry operating conditions.
Assessors must satisfy the NVR/AQTF mandatory competency requirements for assessors.
