Application
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to use basic manual assembly techniques in the manufacture or service and repair of recreational vehicles.
The person completes routine tasks assigned to them under close supervision and guidance. They report routine and non-routine problems to their supervisor and are responsible for the quality of their output.
The unit does not include the use of large or complex machinery or equipment.
No licensing or certification requirements exist at the time of publication. Relevant legislation, industry standards and codes of practice within Australia must be applied.
What You'll Learn
1.
- 1.1 Identify assembly requirements from job instructions
- 1.3 Locate all required tools, check they are safe and functional and ready to use, and report faults to the supervisor
- 1.4 Gather materials and items required by job specifications, and check they meet quality requirements and are ready for installation
- 1.5 Identify hazards and hazard controls including the correct use of personal protective equipment and safe handling techniques

- 2.1 Identify the correct order in which to assemble the components from assembly instructions
- 2.3 Place, align, clamp/hold, fasten and complete fitting the components to meet task and quality requirements
- 2.4 Check the finished assembly according to job instructions and quality requirements and rectify any deficiencies
- 2.5 Store the assembly according to workplace procedures

- 3.1 Clean up the recreational vehicle in readiness for the next task
- 3.3 Identify, tag and report any damage to equipment and tools
- 3.4 Check, clean and do routine maintenance on equipment and tools and store them and unused materials
- 3.5 Complete task outcome documentation
Assessment Requirements
Performance Evidence
There must be evidence that the candidate has completed the tasks set out in the elements and performance criteria and has demonstrated the ability to complete at least three basic manual assembly tasks required to manufacture, service or repair recreational vehicles.
Knowledge Evidence
There must be evidence the candidate knows:
• which hand and power tools to use for basic manual assembly techniques
• workplace policies and procedures relevant to their job role and responsibilities including for:
• completing basic recreational vehicle manual assembly tasks
• communication and reporting
• environmental protection and sustainability, including adhesives, dust, noise and waste
• quality assurance
• work health and safety, including personal protective equipment
• work planning
• hazards that might arise in the work environment and their controls.
Assessment Conditions
Skills must have been demonstrated in the workplace or a simulated environment that reflects workplace conditions and contingencies. The following conditions must be met for this unit:
• use of suitable facilities, equipment and resources required to use basic manual assembly techniques including:
• components for a recreational vehicle
• hand and power tools and safety equipment
• job instructions and workplace procedures.
Assessors of this unit must satisfy the NVR/AQTF mandatory competency requirements for assessors
