Application
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to manage rental properties which have become vacant.
This unit applies to individuals who work in a social housing context within clearly defined organisational processes and procedures.
The skills in this unit must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth and State/Territory legislation, Australian standards and industry codes of practice.
No occupational licensing, certification or specific legislative requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Assessment Requirements
Performance Evidence
Evidence of the ability to complete tasks outlined in elements and performance criteria of this unit in the context of the job role, and:
• manage two vacant rental properties according to organisational policies and procedures and legislative and security requirements
• assess repairs and maintenance for two vacant rental properties according to organisational policies and procedures and residential tenancy legislation.
Knowledge Evidence
Demonstrated knowledge required to complete the tasks outlined in elements and performance criteria of this unit:
• principles of housing asset management
• organisational policies and procedures:
• notices to tenants
• key elements of a planned maintenance program
• residential tenancy legislation relating to repairs and maintenance
• legal implications of squatters.
Assessment Conditions
Skills must be demonstrated in the workplace or in a simulated environment that reflects workplace conditions.
Assessment must ensure:
• access to suitable facilities, equipment and resources that reflect real working conditions and model industry operating conditions and contingencies
• access to organisational policies and procedures
• opportunities for engagement with clients and multiple agencies.
Assessors must satisfy the Standards for Registered Training Organisations’ requirements for assessors.
